I Feel Ill With My Electric Heater On
Elder abuse: who are most affected?
Abuse is most often performed on an elderly person when in a position of trust and can take many forms different. Most people do not think about the abuse on the elderly but it is a sad reality that it is important to speak out.
The most common form of abuse is neglect. From some health professionals but also from families who leave their elderly parents often too busy with their own lives. Violence is often well hidden and takes different forms that we do not always suspect. Because it is not always easy to identify abuse, it must be particularly attentive to abuse which may be suffered some octogenarians.
Isolation is another problem and may hamper the reporting of abuse. Some older people living permanently in retirement homes, isolated from their families and detecting negligence on the part of unscrupulous nursing staff is often difficult. In addition, dependent on facility staff, residents denounce the abuses they hardly can be victims.
A study has shown, however, that most of the abuse suffered by elderly people at home would take place and that any person - male, female, rich, poor, and every culture - which may be the victim. Although one might think that women over age 70 are especially vulnerable when they are isolated, it appears that men are secured in the same way. We might also think that the frail would be more threatened, but it appears that the elderly's health still good can also be abused. The
abuse can affect anyone and only the vigilance of relatives is the guarantor of protection of the elderly.
